Bombs, Blitz and Blackout Party

Past Events

Previous years have seen a wartime cabaret entitled "Bombs, Blitz and Blackout!" and the village hall transformed to a Victorian Music Hall for "The Good Old Days".

"Bombs"was a wonderful evening of food, drink, entertainment and dancing – all 1940's style. The Hall was decorated with all manner of wartime paraphernalia, which created a marvellous atmosphere. Guests arrived in period gear and the hall was filled with land girls, factory workers, soldiers, sailors, spivs, evacuees and French tarts! The cabaret featured Joyce Grenfell, Stanley Holloway, the Andrews Sisters, the Crazy Gang and a sing-song of the old favourites of the time, led by the Milton Abbot Big Band.

For "The Good Old Days" a sell-out audience were treated to a recreation of the bawdy music-halls of the turn of the twentieth century. There was music, comedy and melodrama of the time, all zealously accompanied by the Milton Abbot Concert Orchestra.
